Frequently Asked Questions
How can I request an estimate?
Estimates can be requested through the estimate request form on the website or by calling 1.866.86.LOPCO.
Who is in charge of the job-site?
Each crew is led by a Job Site Manager (JSM). Their primary role is to act as a contact point for the customer and to be responsible for the crew and the job at hand. All JSMs are fully trained and very courteous. Please direct all questions and concerns to the JSM first. It is their job to run and manage the job-site. However, don’t hesitate to call us if there is a problem.
What are your scheduling policies?
Although we can give you an approximate start date, we can rarely give you an exact date due to weather and other uncontrollable circumstances. Of course we will be as prompt as possible, and you will be contacted at least one day in advance to let you know the situation.
When do I need to have my colors chosen?
Please have colors chosen at least one week before the work is to begin. This is perhaps the one aspect of the job in which your participation is needed the most. This is your home, and you are the one that sees it every day, therefore it is ultimately your choice. We are here to help and consult with you so that you can make a decision that you will be happy with for years to come.
What are your color matching capabilities?
We can match the colors previously used on your home. If you need something else matched (a neighbor’s home, a towel, a color swatch, etc.), we can do that as well. Our colors are digitally matched by computer, which gives us matches that are as exact as possible every time we need one.
Do you do test patches?
Yes. We provide the first two color test patches for free. After that we can provide the paint for any further test patching, but we ask the customer to reimburse us for the cost of any further paint that is required.
Is power washing necessary for exterior jobs?
Yes. Power washing creates a clean surface for the paint to "bite" into. We don’t want to paint over any dirt. Lack of washing could result in an inter-coat adhesion problem. The purpose of power washing is to obtain a clean surface - not to remove paint. Using power washing as a means of paint removal is very messy and can often result in paint chips being sprayed all over the yard. Wet paint chips are nearly impossible to clean up. It is best to wash the house down with a power washer and then take whatever paint needs to be taken off by means of hand scraping, power sanding, etc.
Do you do power washing?
Yes. All of the jobs we do include power washing.
What should I do about my bushes or other things that may be in the way?
Please take the time to check the bushes and shrubs surrounding your home to see if they may inhibit the painters. If you can prune any bushes before the crew arrives, it would be helpful. Also, please move any grills, planters, furniture, etc. (if possible) that may inhibit the painters.
What do you do if it rains?
We want to deliver the best job possible to you. At the same time, we know when it is "safe" to paint and need to maintain our schedule of jobs. In the event of bad weather, you will be notified one day in advance in order to reschedule. Your satisfaction is our goal.
What do I do after my windows are painted?
Although paint dries to the touch in several hours, it does not fully cure for about 1-2 weeks. YOU MUST OPEN YOUR WINDOWS ONCE A DAY FOR THE NEXT WEEK AFTER THEY ARE PAINTED to ensure that they will not stick shut. We will make sure that all windows are able to open before we leave.
What do I do after my doors are painted?
Your doors should be left open 3-4 hours with latex paint (add another 2-4 hours of drying time for oil paint), in order to allow them to dry. If you close them right away, the result will be obvious. A small strip of Vaseline around the edge after it has dried can prevent sticking.
How long is your work guaranteed for?
We have a two-year warranty. All work is guaranteed against any peeling, blistering and cracking. The warranty covers the workmanship of the job. Please take the time to read over the warranty. The biggest things that are not covered are mildew, decks, stairs, rails, and fading. Please contact us directly with any specific questions regarding the warranty.
