A New Look for an Old Home

This is a home located in the Fox Point section of Providence. The main portion of the home is well over one hundred years old and had definitely needed a facelift when we commenced work.

The house was pressure washed using a chemical rinse down process. Any rotted wood that was found was replaced. Wedge venting was done to certain areas of the home in order to allow the house to breath and pass moisture more easily. All peeling areas were thoroughly scraped. Any areas needing to be caulked/filled were done so as appropriate. The storm windows were taken down, the windows behind them were prepped as appropriate (including re-glazing where needed), finish coated, and the storm windows re-hung upon completion of the painting. One coat of Rustoleum, oil-based, rust oxide primer was applied to all rusted nail head areas. One complete coat of C2 oil primer tinted to match the finish coat colors was applied to all included areas. The finish coat was applied to all included siding surfaces using one coat of Sherwin Williams, latex, Exterior Duration, satin. The finish coat was applied to all included trim surfaces using one coat of Sherwin Williams, latex, Exterior Duration, gloss. The finish coat was applied to all included doors and shutters using two coats of Sherwin Williams, latex, Exterior Duration, gloss. Finally, two coats of Sikkens Rubol DEK, solid oil stain was applied to all porch floor areas.
